Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

Bale Journal of Education implements a rigorous and transparent peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and academic integrity of all published manuscripts. The review process follows a single-blind peer review system, in which reviewers are aware of the authors' identities, while authors do not know the reviewers.

1. Initial Submission Review

Upon submission, the manuscript undergoes an initial screening by the editorial team. This stage evaluates:

  • Compliance with the journal’s Author Guidelines and template
  • Relevance to the journal’s focus and scope in education
  • Basic quality, structure, and academic writing standards
  • Plagiarism screening

Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be rejected without external review.

2. Assignment to Reviewers

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with expertise in relevant areas of education (e.g., early childhood education, primary education, educational technology, etc.).

Reviewers are selected based on their academic qualifications, research experience, and publication record.

3. Reviewer Evaluation

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on the following criteria:

  • Originality and Contribution: Novelty and significance of the research
  • Theoretical Framework and Literature Review: Relevance and up-to-date references
  • Methodology: Appropriateness, clarity, and reproducibility
  • Data Analysis and Interpretation: Validity and rigor of findings
  • Clarity and Organization: Logical structure and academic writing quality
  • Relevance to Education Field: Contribution to educational theory and practice

Reviewers provide constructive feedback and recommendations.

4. Review Decision

Based on reviewers’ comments, the editor makes one of the following decisions:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision (revision deadline: ±2 weeks)
  • Major Revision (requires re-review)
  • Reject

The decision, along with reviewer comments, will be communicated to the author.

5. Revision and Resubmission

Authors must revise the manuscript based on reviewer feedback and submit:

  • Revised manuscript
  • Response to reviewers (point-by-point explanation)

The revised manuscript may be returned to the same reviewers for further evaluation.

6. Final Decision

Once the manuscript meets all academic and technical standards, it will be accepted for publication and proceed to the editing and layout stage.

Authors will be notified, and the article will be scheduled for publication in the upcoming issue.

7. Confidentiality and Ethics

  • All manuscripts are treated as confidential documents
  • Reviewers must not use unpublished material for personal advantage
  • The review process is conducted objectively and free from bias
  • Reviewers must declare any conflict of interest

8. Quality Assurance

This peer review process ensures that all articles published in Bale Journal of Education:

  • Meet high academic standards
  • Contribute meaningfully to the field of education
  • Provide reliable and impactful research findings
